Frequently asked questions
Short answers to what sellers ask most.
Getting started
Do I need to be a registered breeder to sell?
No. Anyone can sell here, from someone with a few animals a year to a large breeding program. Breeder badges are optional and checked by staff against your documents. Until you earn more, your page carries the "New seller" label. See Trust levels and labels.
What does "New seller" mean on my page?
"New seller" is where everyone starts. It tells buyers you haven't verified your identity on PerfectPal yet. Verify your phone and set up card payments (or ask staff to check your ID) under Settings › Verification, and your label becomes "Identity verified". See Trust levels and labels.
Payments and refunds
Does PerfectPal hold my money?
No. Card payments go straight to your own Stripe account, and Stripe pays out to your bank. PerfectPal never holds your money. You're the merchant for your sales, so refunds and disputes are yours to manage in your Stripe Dashboard. See Connect Stripe to take card payments.
When do I get paid?
Stripe pays out card payments to the bank account in your Stripe account, on Stripe's payout schedule (new accounts often wait a little longer for their first payout). Choose Open your Stripe Dashboard under Money › Payments to see your payouts and change the schedule.
Who handles chargebacks?
You're the merchant for your sales, so you answer disputes and chargebacks in your Stripe Dashboard. PerfectPal gathers the payment, the refund terms the buyer accepted, signed contracts and your messages on an evidence page you can download. See Disputes and chargebacks.
Verification and badges
Can I remove a bad review?
No. Reviews come only from completed sales, and sellers can't remove them. You can Reply publicly with your side, and Report this review if it breaks the review policy. Staff remove reviews that break the policy, not ones that are simply negative. See Reviews.
Plans and billing
What does it cost to sell on PerfectPal?
Starting on the free plan costs nothing, with no card needed. PerfectPal may take a fee on card payments, and paid plans add more room and tools; both are set by PerfectPal and can change, so the current figures are always on Sell on PerfectPal (under What it costs) and Plans and pricing. Payments you record yourself, like cash or e-transfer, carry no PerfectPal fee. See PerfectPal's fees.
Does paying for a plan put me higher in search?
No. Search ranking looks at how well a listing matches, distance, the seller's trust level, badges, rating and how recently the listing was updated. What you pay is never part of it. See How buyers find your listings.
Account and privacy
Can buyers see my address?
No. Your seller page shows your city and province or state, never your street address, and search maps show only your approximate area. You share where to go yourself, when a visit or pickup is arranged; with bookings, Where to go is shown only to buyers who've booked. See Your data and privacy.
Can I use PerfectPal in French?
Yes. Choose Français at the top of any page. When you're signed in, your choice is saved, so your dashboard and emails are in French too. Your public page works in both languages for buyers; what you write yourself (your about section, listings and messages) appears as you wrote it. On your profile, tick the languages you speak with buyers so they know how to reach you.
I got an email from PerfectPal staff. Is it real?
Yes, PerfectPal staff sometimes write to one person or a few accounts: about your account or activity (for example a question about a listing or a payment), or with PerfectPal news if you've agreed to get it. It comes from PerfectPal's address, and replying reaches PerfectPal support. A copy is kept with your account and included when you download your data.
Staff will never ask for your password, a sign-in code or card details. If an email asks for those, or sends you to a site that isn't perfectpal.ca, don't answer it: contact support instead.
What is the code in my sign-up link?
Links to the "Sell on PerfectPal" page on business cards, flyers or posts can end with a short code, like ?src=card-oct26. If you came through one and then created an account or a seller page, the code is kept with them, so PerfectPal knows which promotions bring sellers. It doesn't change anything for you: not your plan, your fees or your place in search. See Your data and privacy.
