How buyers find your listings

What search shows, the filters buyers use, and what decides the order.

Where buyers look

  • Search (/search): by words, animal type, species and variety, distance, and filters.
  • Species pages, such as one page per species with every listing for it.
  • Your page, from links you share.
  • Alerts: buyers can save a search and be told about new listings, follow you, or ask to be told when a sold-out listing is back.

What search shows

A listing appears when:

  • your seller page is published;
  • the listing is active (stock listings that are out of stock still show, marked as such) or, for groups of young, planned, expected, arrived or available;
  • the species is allowed where the buyer is.

Paused, closed, archived and deleted listings never show.

Filters buyers use

Availability (available now or upcoming), listing type (individual animals or sold by quantity), distance, seller trust (identity verified or established), verified breeders only, a badge, seller type, sellers who deliver or meet partway, and details specific to the animal.

What decides the order

"Best match" weighs how well the words match, distance, the seller's trust level, badges, rating, and how recently the listing was updated. The weights are set by PerfectPal staff. Your plan never affects your place in search.

To rank well: keep listings up to date, verify your identity, apply for the badges you hold, and earn good reviews.
