- Where they come from
- Usually aquacultured
Aquacultured clownfish are hardy, long-lived and full of personality, and almost all sold today are tank-bred. They suit beginners and can live 10 to 20 years.
Pairs
Clownfish live in pairs; the larger becomes female. Add two young fish together, or a pair the seller has already formed. More than two in a small tank often fight.
Anemones
Clownfish don't need an anemone. If you add one, wait until the tank is mature and stable; bubble tip anemones suit many species.
Species differences
Ocellaris and percula clowns are the most peaceful. Maroon, tomato and Clark's clownfish grow larger and can be aggressive.
