Care guide
Caring for mixed-breed dogs
Mixed-breed dogs come in every shape and size. Their care follows the same basics as any dog: good food, exercise, training, vet care and lots of company.
Getting to know your dog
If you know the parents, they're the best guide to how big and active your puppy will be. A dog DNA test can also suggest the breeds in their background.
Watch your puppy's energy and personality, and adjust exercise and training to suit them.
Health
Mixed-breed dogs can still inherit health problems. Keep up with vaccines, parasite prevention and yearly vet visits, and ask the seller about the parents' health.
Training and socialisation
Reward-based training and early, gentle socialisation help any dog become a confident companion. A puppy class is a great start.
