Caring for mushroom corals

Discosoma mushrooms are hardy soft corals in many colours and patterns. They prefer lower light and gentle flow, and they spread slowly by splitting.
Placement
Low to moderate light and gentle flow. Too much light can make them shrink or turn pale; strong flow makes them stay shrunken. Place them low on the rock and let them settle for a few weeks.
Care
They tolerate a range of water conditions and do fine in many tanks with moderate nutrients. Give them a little space; they can sting slow corals they touch.
Food
Mostly fed by light. Small amounts of finely ground food now and then are optional.
