Sun conures are brightly coloured, playful and affectionate, and one of the loudest small parrots. They need daily attention and suit homes where noise isn't a problem.
Noise
Sun conures call loudly, often at dawn and dusk and when they want attention. They're not a good fit for apartments with shared walls.
With good care many live 20 to 30 years or more, so plan for who will care for your bird if your life changes.
Housing
A cage at least 60 by 60 cm with 1.3 to 1.9 cm bar spacing, daily time out, and lots of shreddable toys. Many love a snuggle hut, but some hens lay eggs in them; remove it if that happens.
Diet
A conure pellet or quality seed mix with fresh vegetables every day and fruit in small amounts.
